DPIPWE have extended the exclusion zone following the detection of adult fruit fly in a backyard orchard in George Town.   Because of the detection, the Control Area in the north of the State is now increased from the current area to include the northern coastal area to Beechford and Lefroy, Rowella, Sidmouth and south to Kimberley. Report any suspected signs of fruit fly by calling 03 61653774.  More details can be found on the DPIPWE website at  

Minister for Agriculture & Water Resources, David Littleproud announced (3/8/18) that the Australian Government had earmarked funds to support fruit fly management in Tasmania.  A grant of $100,000 will be provided to Fruit Growers Tasmania to identify, respond to and manage future biosecurity incidents.
