LOCAL COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER PROJECT
Strengthen. Connect. Thrive.

The Local Community Volunteer Project is an initiative aimed at strengthening the resilience and sustainability of volunteer organisations and networks across the region. Through the delivery of free, structured workshops, the program equips volunteer groups with practical skills and strategies to enhance their capacity, engagement, and long-term viability.
The program supports volunteer groups by providing resources and training to:
-
Identify organisational strengths and areas for improvement;
-
Create meaningful and sustainable volunteer roles;
-
Implement effective strategies for volunteer attraction, engagement, and retention;
-
Foster strong community connections and leadership succession planning.
Recognising the vital role volunteers play in supporting emergency services, sporting and recreational clubs, environmental stewardship, event coordination, and community wellbeing initiatives, the Local Community Volunteer Project aims to future-proof these organisations by enhancing their ability to adapt to changing community needs and volunteer expectations.
The program also facilitates pathways for individuals interested in volunteering, enabling them to connect with groups that align with their skills, interests, and availability. By bridging the gap between volunteer supply and demand, the project contributes to building more inclusive, responsive, and resilient communities.
Participation in the program is open to all volunteer-based organisations and individuals across the region. It forms part of a broader commitment to strengthening local communities through capacity building, engagement, and long-term volunteer sustainability.
